Kicking off the 2024 season with:
The Ninth Day of May (written by Dr. Njoki & Marian McElroy). Directed by Sleeveless Acts and performed on the campus of Southern Methodist University (SMU) on 2/17/24. The production was the last play written by the renown playwright, master storyteller, and "Queen Professor", Dr. Njoki McElroy, who made her transition in October 2023. The production was a part of a memorial service which honored and celebrated the life and impact of Dr. McElroy who introduced courses on Black stories, literature, and poetry to her students whom she taught over the course of 35 years at Northwestern University and 30 years at SMU.  Dr. McElroy was a professor, friend, and mentor to many, including Dr. Dontá McGilvery.
